The internet can be a wonderful tool for teens to learn, create and grow, to find and share interests, and communicate with friends, but it can be a risky place if misused.
Just as you can teach safer sex practices to your teen, you can teach safer online practices.
By speaking candidly to our children about the dangers of the misuse of the internet and social media, we raise awareness of the presence of cyberbullying, sexual predators, online grooming, blackmail, digital abuse, and image-based sexual abuse - also known as “revenge porn”.
The truth is, what goes online, stays online. Through thoughtful dialogue we encourage our children to be mindful of their actions online and raise awareness about not only the dangers, but the support available to them.
